Passing HSK Level 6
HSK level 6 is the hardest level of the HSK. A natural question to ask is “how long will it take me to get to that level?”
Well, the answer is not so simple, as it relies on a number of factors.
HSK Level 6 – How Long Will It Take to Pass?
Depending on your study routine, you could pass HSK level 6 in a number of months or a number of years. Knowing the answers to the following questions will better help you estimate how long it should take you to pass the HSK level 6:
- How many days are you studying per week?
- How many hours per day?
- Do you have a study plan?
- Do you know what study methods work best?
- Do you have a partner or a teacher who can correct your speaking and writing?
- Are you located in China?
HSK Level 6: Personal Advice
Assuming you have never studied Chinese before but do all you can to get your level up (and that means take studying for the HSK level 6 as a full time job), I would say it would take you approximately two years from level 0 to level 6. That’s for the fast student. A slow student could take up to 6 years. So, on average, if you’re studying part-time, perhaps you can aim for 4 years from level 0 to level 6.
For most students who study at a more “normal” pace (i.e., not in China or enrolled in a course), it may take anywhere from 4 to 6 years.
Honestly, it depends on how bad you want it. I passed HSK level 6 in 3 years.
